Descendants of Michael Rosipko
I had heard stories that my grandfather, Andrew, was not really a Rosipko, but was born a HARDYCH and adopted by the Rosipko's. I was told this by my aunts, who related that the details about their father's real name (he had died when they were youngsters) came out during the settlement of the estate of Andrew's brother George who died single and without a will sometime in the 1950's. My widowed grandmother was told she had no claims in this estate because her husband wasn't a real brother. How true this was, no one knew for sure.
However, I recently found evidence that Andrew's brother, Stephen Rosipko, was in fact born a HARDYCH; his father's name was Michael Hardych. I have no doubts now that the story is true. Two sisters born after Andrew and before Stephen may very well be Hardych's too.
It has not been determined if Mary Lemesh was their real mother, nor what became of their father. Finding vital records on any of these folks hasn't been easy. We know that Stephen was born in Edgerton, Pa, which is a defunct mining town that was located near the Carbondale-Mayfield border (Lackawanna Co., Pa.).
